No Smoking Policy

Riverside boat club is a strictly no smoking environment

Whereas smoking tobacco is a well-documented public health hazard;
Whereas FISA maintains a philosophy that encourages rowing and rowers to contribute to the well-being of people, communities, and the environment;
Whereas we are stewards of a 100+-year-old historic wooden boathouse;
Whereas we, at RBC, maintain an implicit and explicit commitment to furthering the health and welfare of our members, junior rowers, and all who join in the
Riverside Community;
Whereas, in support of general regulations in Cambridge making most institutions smoke-free, and in support of the city’s campaign to promote smoke-free recreation:

Be it resolved that as of July 14, 2023, Riverside Boat Club hereby prohibits the use of any tobacco, nicotine, or other products that are smoked or vaped in or in the immediate vicinity (specifically, within 25 feet) of the boathouse. This includes the building, porches, docks, outdoor rack areas, and within the immediate vicinity of the boathouse.

It is further declared that it is incumbent upon members to articulate this policy to guests who endeavor to smoke or vape in or in the immediate vicinity of the boat house.
