High Performance Training and Racing in Small Boats
The Riverside Boat Club High Performance Group (RBC HPG) is a year-round training opportunity for athletes aiming to represent their country in international competition. For over ten years, RBC HPG has built a strong tradition of producing athletes who have gone on to represent their country at the World Rowing Championships, Pan American Games, and Olympic Games.
Riverside offers each athlete the opportunity to train amongst a group of elite athletes and experienced coaches. Comprised of lightweight and heavyweight men and women, the RBC HPG focuses on development in small boats, such as singles (one-person boats), doubles and pairs (two-person boats), and quads (four-person boats), as they provide the best platform for individual athletes to achieve excellence at the highest level of competition.
HPG athletes are expected to be independent and responsible representatives of the club at all times. Initial acceptance and continued participation in the HPG are based on a high level of day-to-day performance and commitment. Athletes are evaluated during on-the water time trials in singles or pairs, ergometer testing, and regatta results throughout the year.
Interested athletes should have ergometer scores within range of the following standards:
*Exceptions to the erg standards can, and have been made, please contact the coaching staff if you are interested in the program.
